Volunteer at RDA
How can you help?
Volunteering provides you with the opportunity to make a difference to someone else’s life and it is immensely rewarding to be a part of such a giving community. You’ll get to be part of a team, learn new skills, make new friends, enjoy the outdoors and enhance your CV.
Without volunteers sharing their time and enthusiasm, RDA Oakford would not be able to run. While many volunteers join to work with our riders and horses, others assist with maintenance jobs around the facility. This can include everything from tending to the area, fencing, irrigation, structural repairs and maintenance or cleaning of the office.
Some volunteers come for a short stay and others have been with us for a long time. We are deeply grateful for their generosity, kindness and care.
Things you should know if you’d like to volunteer:
All volunteers have to be fourteen years and over.
All volunteers are required to undergo an initial induction with basic training before they are able to join our team.
We are seeking volunteers who are able to give their time on a longer term basis, ie. a six week term. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to drop in and help for a day due to training requirements and the need for experienced participants.
Regular volunteering jobs include:
Working with horses

Feeding the horses
Cleaning tack (saddles and bridles)
Cleaning (office and facility)
Sewing – repairing horse rugs, blankets and gear
Grounds maintenance – fencing, water troughs, grading the arena
